About the exam
Qualification
- Primary medical degree (MBBS, MD or equivalent) from a recognised university.
- Recognised postgraduate qualification in dermatology (for example a dermatology board certificate, MRCP (Dermatology) or SCE, MD/DDVL or an equivalent residency certificate).
- Current registration or licence as a dermatologist in your home country or last country of work.
- Post-specialisation experience: often required; the amount depends on the job grade.
How to apply
OMSB / Ministry of Health, Oman- 1Check that your qualification and experience match the job category you are applying for. The Ministry of Health (MOH) or your future employer sets the exact requirements for each category.
- 2Create an account on Pearson VUE (pearsonvue.com/omsb) and book the OMSB Occupational Classification (OC) exam for your profession. Choose a test centre (the OMSB National Test Center at Innovation Park Muscat, or a Pearson VUE centre in your country) and pay online.
- 3Take the computer-based exam. Bring the same photo ID you used to book (non-Omani candidates: passport) and your booking confirmation.
- 4Keep your score report safe. If you lose it, OMSB issues a certification letter on request.
- 5After you pass, the MOH or your employer completes your licensing. This usually includes primary source verification of your degree, licence and experience certificates (through DataFlow), a Certificate of Good Standing and a medical fitness check.
βΉοΈ Booking, rescheduling and cancelling are all done on the Pearson VUE website.

Frequently asked questions
About our mock testsAre the Oman Dermatology Examination mock tests free?
Mock Test 1 is free. Create a free account with your email or Google, then press Start mock test on this page. No payment or card is needed, and you can take it as many times as you like.
Mock Test 2 and Mock Test 3 are part of the paid test series for this exam, so they show a lock for now. When a package is available it is listed under Packages on this page, and the locked tests open as soon as you buy it.
How many questions are in the mock test, and how long does it take?
Each of the three mock tests has 20 multiple-choice questions and a 25-minute timer (60 practice questions in all). That gives you about 1ΒΌ minutes per question.
Every correct answer scores 1 mark and there is no negative marking, so it is always worth answering. You can mark questions for review and jump between them with the question palette. The test submits itself when the timer reaches zero, and if the page reloads your answers are kept on that device.
How is the mock test different from the real OMSB exam?
The real OMSB specialty exam is a computer-based multiple-choice exam taken at the OMSB National Test Center in Muscat or a Pearson VUE test centre. OMSB's content booklets are reported to set 100 questions in 2 hours 30 minutes with a 65% pass mark; check the current booklet before you book.
Our mock test is a shorter practice set of 20 questions in 25 minutes, so you can do it in one sitting and practise answering at a steady pace.
All questions are original. We write them from standard textbooks and the published exam content; they are not leaked or recalled exam questions. A short test cannot predict your real result, so use your score to find the areas you need to revise.
Which syllabus topics do the mock questions cover?
The questions follow the Oman Dermatology Examination syllabus on this page, which has seven sections:
- Inflammatory dermatoses
- Skin infections and infestations
- Acne, hair and nail disorders
- Autoimmune and bullous diseases
- Skin tumours
- Pigmentary, genetic and paediatric dermatology
- Dermatological therapy and emergencies
Every question is labelled with its syllabus section, so after each test your dashboard shows your strong and weak sections.
A 20-question test cannot cover every section, so use the syllabus to plan the rest of your revision.
Can I see the correct answers and explanations, and retake the test?
Yes. As soon as you submit, you see your score and accuracy, then every question with the correct answer marked and a short explanation. You can filter the list to show only the questions you got wrong or left unanswered.
You can retake the test as often as you like. Your dashboard keeps your past scores so you can follow your progress, and if you set this as your target exam with your exam date, it shows a countdown and daily study goals.
