About the exam

Qualification

  • A bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN), or a nursing diploma of at least 3 years that the PQR accepts for Registered Nurse, from a recognised institution.
  • The clinical experience that the UAE Unified Healthcare Professional Qualification Requirements (PQR) set for your title.
  • A valid licence or registration in your home country (where it exists) and a recent Good Standing Certificate.
  • No gap in practice of more than 2 years. Longer gaps need CME/CPD hours and may need supervised practice; gaps over 5 years usually stop non-UAE nationals from applying.
  • Some applicants are exempt from the exam, for example UAE nationals, children of Emirati women, and holders of certain recognised licences or exams listed in the PQR. An exemption does not cover DataFlow verification.

How to apply

DHA, Dubai
  1. 1Create an account on Sheryan, the DHA licensing portal, using your name exactly as on your passport, and submit your professional qualification application with your documents.
  2. 2Complete Primary Source Verification (PSV) of your degree, licence and experience through DataFlow, using your DHA Unique ID.
  3. 3Pay the credentialing fee in Sheryan to get your exam Eligibility ID. Then book and pay for the exam on the Prometric website (prometric.com/DHA).
  4. 4Sit the exam. The result (pass or fail; the score is not shown) appears in your Sheryan account, usually within 2 working days. After passing you receive an eligibility letter, and the licence is activated when a Dubai facility employs you.

Exam pattern & rules

  • 150 multiple-choice questions in about 3 hours. Computer-based, in English, delivered by Prometric (exam code RNT0312 at the time of writing).
  • Pass mark: 50% according to DHA's exam list as reported by candidate guides (some guides quote 60%, so confirm in Sheryan). DHA can change it without notice.
  • 3 attempts in total across all UAE health authorities (DHA, DOH and MOHAP together), not 3 per authority. DHA sets no fixed waiting time between attempts; each attempt is booked and paid again.
  • After 3 failures DHA blocks a new application for 2 years (with limited exceptions, such as a new qualification or 2 more years of experience).
  • Rescheduling or cancelling needs at least 5 days' notice. Exam fees are not refunded.

Exam fee

approximate
  • Prometric exam fee: about USD 240 per attempt.
  • Sheryan credentialing fee: AED 200, plus small knowledge and innovation fees.
  • DataFlow verification is quoted per case, and the licence fee is paid when the licence is activated.

Fees and rules change without notice. Always confirm the current requirements and fees on the official DHA website (dha.gov.ae) and in Sheryan before you apply or pay.

Frequently asked questions

About our mock tests
Is the DHA Registered Nurse Exam mock test free?

Yes. The DHA Registered Nurse Exam mock test is completely free. Create a free account with your email or Google, then press Start mock test on this page. No payment or card is needed, and you can take it as many times as you like.

How many questions are in the mock test, and how long does it take?

The mock test has 10 multiple-choice questions and a 15-minute timer, which gives you 1Β½ minutes per question.

Every correct answer scores 1 mark and there is no negative marking, so it is always worth answering. You can mark questions for review and jump between them with the question palette. The test submits itself when the timer reaches zero, and if the page reloads your answers are kept on that device.

How is the mock test different from the real DHA exam?

The real DHA exam is 150 multiple-choice questions in about 3 hours, in English, at a Prometric centre. The pass mark reported by candidate guides is 50% (some candidate guides quote 60%, so confirm it in Sheryan); the result itself is shown only as pass or fail.

Our mock test is a shorter practice set of 10 questions in 15 minutes, so you can do it in one sitting. The real exam allows about 1.2 minutes per question, so the mock timer also helps you practise your speed.

All questions are original. We write them from standard textbooks and the published exam content; they are not leaked or recalled exam questions. A short test cannot predict your real result, so use your score to find the areas you need to revise.

Which syllabus topics do the mock questions cover?

The questions follow the DHA Registered Nurse Exam syllabus on this page, which has six sections:

  • Fundamentals of Nursing
  • Adult Health (Medical-Surgical) Nursing
  • Maternal and Newborn Nursing
  • Paediatric Nursing
  • Mental Health Nursing
  • Leadership, Ethics and Patient Safety

DHA does not publish section weights for this exam, so the syllabus is a topic guide.

Every question is labelled with its syllabus section, so after each test your dashboard shows the sections you are strong in and the ones that need more work. Mock Test 1 includes questions from every section.

Can I see the correct answers and explanations, and retake the test?

Yes. As soon as you submit, you see your score and accuracy, then every question with the correct answer marked and a short explanation. You can filter the list to show only the questions you got wrong or left unanswered.

You can retake the test as often as you like. Your dashboard keeps your past scores so you can follow your progress, and if you set this as your target exam with your exam date, it shows a countdown and daily study goals.

For revision, there is also a free sample study note for this exam under Study Notes.
