About the exam

Qualification

  • MBBS or an equivalent primary medical degree from a recognised, accredited programme, or
  • An internship (training year) already started, or
  • Being a student one year away from graduation. Students at Saudi universities can sit in their final undergraduate year.
  • For registration as a practitioner you also need your internship certificate, any licence from your home country and a Certificate of Good Standing.

How to apply

SCFHS, Saudi Arabia
  1. 1Create an account on Mumaris Plus, the SCFHS online portal, and apply for the exam (or for professional classification and registration if you are already qualified).
  2. 2Upload your degree, internship and identity documents. Practitioners applying for registration also complete Primary Source Verification (PSV) of their certificates through DataFlow.
  3. 3When your application is approved, SCFHS gives you an exam eligibility number. Use it to book your test on the Prometric website. Booking opens no more than 3 months ahead.
  4. 4Results are announced 2–6 weeks after the test window closes. Practitioners then complete SCFHS classification and registration to get their licence.

Exam pattern & rules

  • 200 multiple-choice questions in 2 parts of 100. Each part is 120 minutes, with a 30-minute break between them. Up to 10% are unscored pilot questions.
  • Pass mark: 560 on a scale of 200–800.
  • Computer-based exam in English, delivered by Prometric.
  • Up to 4 attempts a year until you pass, but only 1 per testing window. Arriving more than 30 minutes late or not attending counts as an attempt.
  • After passing, you may sit 2 more times to improve your score for residency selection.
  • If you have not passed within 2 years of graduating, the SCFHS classification and registration rules apply.

Exam fee

approximate
  • Exam fee: roughly SAR 800–1,500 per attempt (third-party estimates; SCFHS does not state it in its exam guides). It is paid by card when you book.
  • DataFlow verification: about SAR 1,100–1,800, depending on the number of documents.
  • SCFHS application, classification and licence fees are charged separately (roughly SAR 350–1,400 in total).

Fees and rules change without notice. Always confirm the current requirements and fees on the official SCFHS website (scfhs.org.sa) before you apply or pay.

Frequently asked questions

About our mock tests
Is the Saudi Medical Licensing Examination (SMLE) mock test free?

Yes. The Saudi Medical Licensing Examination (SMLE) mock test is completely free. Create a free account with your email or Google, then press Start mock test on this page. No payment or card is needed, and you can take it as many times as you like.

How many questions are in the mock test, and how long does it take?

The mock test has 10 multiple-choice questions and a 15-minute timer, which gives you 1Β½ minutes per question.

Every correct answer scores 1 mark and there is no negative marking, so it is always worth answering. You can mark questions for review and jump between them with the question palette. The test submits itself when the timer reaches zero, and if the page reloads your answers are kept on that device.

How is the mock test different from the real SCFHS exam?

The real exam is 200 multiple-choice questions in two parts of 100, each 120 minutes, with a 30-minute break. The pass mark is a scaled score of 560 on a 200–800 scale, so it cannot be turned directly into a percentage.

Our mock test is a shorter practice set of 10 questions in 15 minutes, so you can do it in one sitting. The real exam allows about 1.2 minutes per question, so the mock timer also helps you practise your speed.

All questions are original. We write them from standard textbooks and the published exam content; they are not leaked or recalled exam questions. A short test cannot predict your real result, so use your score to find the areas you need to revise.

Which syllabus topics do the mock questions cover?

The questions follow the Saudi Medical Licensing Examination (SMLE) syllabus on this page, which has five sections:

  • Medicine
  • Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • Pediatrics
  • Surgery
  • Patient Safety, Preventive Medicine and Ethics

The percentage next to a section shows its share of the real exam; the note at the top of the syllabus says where the figures come from.

Every question is labelled with its syllabus section, so after each test your dashboard shows the sections you are strong in and the ones that need more work. Mock Test 1 includes questions from every section.

Can I see the correct answers and explanations, and retake the test?

Yes. As soon as you submit, you see your score and accuracy, then every question with the correct answer marked and a short explanation. You can filter the list to show only the questions you got wrong or left unanswered.

You can retake the test as often as you like. Your dashboard keeps your past scores so you can follow your progress, and if you set this as your target exam with your exam date, it shows a countdown and daily study goals.
