About the exam

Qualification

  • A bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN), or a nursing diploma of at least 3 years that the PQR accepts for Registered Nurse, from a recognised institution.
  • The clinical experience that the UAE Unified Healthcare Professional Qualification Requirements (PQR) set for your title.
  • A valid licence or registration in your home country (where it exists) and a recent Good Standing Certificate.
  • Gap in practice: more than 2 years removes exam exemptions; more than 3 years needs CME/CPD hours and supervised training; more than 5 years generally stops you applying.
  • UAE nationals, children of Emirati women, and holders of certain recognised licences or exams listed in the PQR may be exempt from the exam.

How to apply

DOH, Abu Dhabi
  1. 1Sign in to TAMM, the Abu Dhabi government services platform, with UAE PASS and submit a healthcare professional licence application with your documents.
  2. 2Complete Primary Source Verification (PSV) of your degree, licence and experience through DataFlow.
  3. 3When the DOH Health Professionals Licensing Department approves you for the exam, pay the exam fee in TAMM. A Pearson VUE booking link then appears in your TAMM account; choose your date, time and test centre, and print the confirmation.
  4. 4Sit the exam. The result (pass or fail only) appears in TAMM under your licence application. Some titles also need an oral or practical assessment, booked separately in TAMM.

Exam pattern & rules

  • Computer-based multiple-choice exam in English, delivered by Pearson VUE (not Prometric).
  • DOH does not publish the number of questions, the time or the pass mark. Third-party guides usually quote about 150 questions in about 3 hours; treat these as estimates.
  • 3 attempts in total across all UAE health authorities (DHA, DOH and MOHAP together). Wait 3 months after a failed attempt and 12 months after a third failure; after 3 failures, one final attempt is allowed with a different authority.
  • Exam fees are not refunded, including for rescheduling, cancellation or not attending.

Exam fee

approximate
  • DOH does not publish the exam fee. The amount is shown in TAMM when you pay.
  • DataFlow verification and the DOH licence fee are charged separately.

Fees and rules change without notice. Always confirm the current requirements and fees on the official DOH website (doh.gov.ae) and in TAMM before you apply or pay. DOH exam queries: exam@doh.gov.ae.

Frequently asked questions

About our mock tests
Is the DOH Registered Nurse Exam mock test free?

Yes. The DOH Registered Nurse Exam mock test is completely free. Create a free account with your email or Google, then press Start mock test on this page. No payment or card is needed, and you can take it as many times as you like.

How many questions are in the mock test, and how long does it take?

The mock test has 10 multiple-choice questions and a 15-minute timer, which gives you 1Β½ minutes per question.

Every correct answer scores 1 mark and there is no negative marking, so it is always worth answering. You can mark questions for review and jump between them with the question palette. The test submits itself when the timer reaches zero, and if the page reloads your answers are kept on that device.

How is the mock test different from the real DOH exam?

The real DOH exam is a computer-based multiple-choice exam in English at a Pearson VUE centre. DOH does not publish the number of questions, the time or the pass mark; third-party guides usually quote about 150 questions in about 3 hours, so treat these as estimates. The result is shown only as pass or fail.

Our mock test is a shorter practice set of 10 questions in 15 minutes, so you can do it in one sitting and practise answering at a steady pace.

All questions are original. We write them from standard textbooks and the published exam content; they are not leaked or recalled exam questions. A short test cannot predict your real result, so use your score to find the areas you need to revise.

Which syllabus topics do the mock questions cover?

The questions follow the DOH Registered Nurse Exam syllabus on this page, which has six sections:

  • Fundamentals of Nursing
  • Adult Health (Medical-Surgical) Nursing
  • Maternal and Newborn Nursing
  • Paediatric Nursing
  • Mental Health Nursing
  • Leadership, Ethics and Patient Safety

DOH does not publish section weights for this exam, so the syllabus is a topic guide.

Every question is labelled with its syllabus section, so after each test your dashboard shows the sections you are strong in and the ones that need more work. Mock Test 1 includes questions from every section.

Can I see the correct answers and explanations, and retake the test?

Yes. As soon as you submit, you see your score and accuracy, then every question with the correct answer marked and a short explanation. You can filter the list to show only the questions you got wrong or left unanswered.

You can retake the test as often as you like. Your dashboard keeps your past scores so you can follow your progress, and if you set this as your target exam with your exam date, it shows a countdown and daily study goals.

For revision, there is also a free sample study note for this exam under Study Notes.
